About
I'm Derek Freed, a senior software engineer. I spent ten years in Microsoft's consulting organization, helping clients across many industries turn complex ideas into working software. My work spans full-stack web and cloud development, XR with Unity, and AI-enabled products. I work remotely with clients, in English or Spanish.
I've worked across the full stack, from data and APIs to the interface, but I care most about the moment someone uses the software. If it's confusing, slow, or fragile, it doesn't matter how clever the code is.

Do you take every project?
No. I'm selective about the work I take on, and I reserve the right to decline any project or consultation request that isn't a good fit for me.
Will my intro call request be accepted?
Not automatically. I review every request before confirming it. If it's not a fit, I'll let you know and, where I can, point you somewhere more useful.
Does an intro call mean we're working together?
No. A call is a chance to see whether we're a good match, and it creates no obligation for either of us. Work starts only after we both sign a written agreement.
